Interconnected prejudices - a case for interconnected movements

🐾 A sociological and anarchist look at the connections between speciesism and other prejudices within Western societies 🏛️✊ and the importance of understanding these connections 🔍

In this talk we will take a sociological/social psychological look at the relationship between speciesism and other forms of prejudice (like racism, sexism, ablism etc) and hierarchy within western societies. I will present some of the existing research on this topic and discuss some of its implications 💬.

Following this, I will make a sociological and anarchist argument for the necessity of a holistic mindset 🌐🕊️ with the ultimate goal of fighting all hierarchies jointly, not as single issues, even if our particular project is focused on a particular issue. We will discuss how the lack of this recognition leads to really fundamental problems in a variety of movements, and how understanding the interconnections between different hierarchies and prejudices is key to having real, lasting success 🌱.
